Leadership

Derek has served on staff at First Baptist for 20 years, and his heart for ministry remains simple: he loves shepherding the church and preaching God’s Word. He is especially grateful for the privilege of walking alongside people as they grow in their relationship with Christ and looks forward to all the Lord has ahead for the FBC family. Derek and his wife, Julie, have been married for almost 37 years and have three sons, three wonderful daughters-in-law who love Jesus, and six amazing grandchildren who bring plenty of joy to their lives. When he’s not spending time with his family, Derek enjoys vintage Mustangs. His favorite verse is Genesis 32:10, a reminder of God’s steadfast love and faithfulness and that every blessing we have is ultimately a gift of His grace.

Todd has served on staff at First Baptist for 10 years and is excited about helping lead the church into the future as we connect people with Christ and with one another. His heart is to see people become disciples who make disciples—worshiping Jesus, growing together in community, and living on mission wherever God has placed them. Todd is grateful for his family and loves sharing life with his wife, Tammy; his son, Cameron, and future daughter-in-law, Mazah; and his daughter, Madison, and son-in-law, Trent. When he has some downtime, Todd enjoys hunting, fishing, and golf. His favorite verse is James 1:13, a reminder of the holy and unchanging character of God.

Scott has been serving on staff at First Baptist for 10 years and loves being part of a team that serves the Lord and serves people together. He’s excited about the days ahead as the church moves into a new facility and discovers new opportunities for ministry and mission. One of Scott’s greatest blessings is his family. He and his wife, Heather, love worshiping alongside three of their four daughters, their sons-in-law, and grandchildren, while their other daughter serves on staff at another church. When he’s not at church, you’ll likely find Scott hunting, coaching, playing softball, or spending time with family and friends. One of his favorite passages is 1 John 4:7–8, a reminder that our love for one another flows from the God who first loved us.

Trent has served on staff at First Baptist for five years and has spent the past year serving as College Pastor. He is excited about what God has ahead for the FBC family, especially the opportunities a new facility will provide to intentionally reach and teach people, families, and students with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Trent and his wife, Madison, have been married for a little over two years and enjoy building their life and serving the Lord together. In his free time, Trent enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing golf, and reading. His favorite passage is 1 Timothy 1:15–17, where Paul celebrates the mercy and grace of Christ—a powerful reminder that the gospel is at the heart of everything we do.

Angie has been part of the First Baptist family for more than 50 years and has served on staff for 31 of them! Through the years, one of her greatest blessings has been simply getting to work alongside people she genuinely loves and enjoys being with each day. Angie and her husband, Rick, have been married for 50 years and have three children, two of whom serve on church staffs in the communities where they live. Their family has grown to include 10 grandchildren—five boys and five girls—and they are a tremendous blessing in their lives. When she has some free time, Angie enjoys reading, cooking, and sewing. Her favorite passage is Proverbs 3:5–6, a fitting reminder after so many years of following the Lord: trust Him with all your heart, acknowledge Him in every step, and allow Him to direct your path.

Tracy has served on staff at First Baptist for five years, but her heart for children’s ministry began much earlier—the Lord called her to serve children when she was in the sixth grade! One of her greatest joys is watching children grow from listening and learning about Jesus to sharing their faith and genuinely worshiping Him. Being able to walk alongside a child as they make the most important decision of their life—to follow Jesus—is a privilege she never takes for granted. Tracy and her husband, Danny, have served together in children’s ministry for more than 20 years, and their three sons, Landon, Denver, and Sawyer, are each serving and using their gifts in different ways. Outside of ministry and teaching, Tracy enjoys creating for her classroom and having picnics with the people she loves. Her favorite verse is Psalm 16:8, a reminder to keep the Lord always before us and to find our security in Him.

Phil and Leslie have served together as our Senior Adult Ministry Directors for the past two years, and they love the relationships they’ve built with what Phil affectionately calls our “Just Older Youth”—the JOY Group! They consider it a blessing to serve alongside an incredible group of people and to be part of a healthy church family that genuinely enjoys doing life together. Family is a big part of Phil and Leslie’s lives—they have nine grown children and five grandchildren, which means plenty of visits, daily conversations, and learning how to feed a crowd! Phil enjoys family time, golf, and fishing whenever he gets an invitation, while Leslie loves thrifting, writing, and coffee with friends. Their favorite passages are John 16:33 and Psalm 139, and together they desire to love people well, see them as Jesus does, and enjoy every opportunity God gives them to serve others.

Mason has been serving on staff at First Baptist for three years and especially enjoys the genuine fellowship he has found here and the opportunity to grow and learn through ministry. He is currently working his way through seminary and is grateful for the ways the Lord continues to provide and guide him along the way. It’s also an exciting season personally, as Mason recently became engaged to his future wife, Emma Warrell! When he has some free time, Mason enjoys hunting, traveling, and building just about anything. His favorite verse, John 3:30—“He must increase, but I must decrease”—captures his desire to keep Christ at the center of both his life and ministry.

Laken has served on staff at First Baptist for 10 years and loves the relationships that have grown through serving alongside our staff and church family. Whether she’s helping someone during the week, building a new friendship, or finding another prayer partner along the way, she is grateful for the people God has placed in her life through FBC. Her story with the church has even come full circle—Pastor Todd was her youth leader when she was a student, and today she gets to serve the Lord alongside him! Laken has been married to her husband and best friend, Taylor, for over 18 years, and they have two children, Taylen and Wade. She loves spending time outdoors with her family, traveling and exploring new places, and cheering on her kids at their sporting events. Her favorite verse is Philippians 4:13, and she is continually thankful for the goodness and faithfulness of God in her life and family.

Jamie has called First Baptist home for 12 years and joined the staff one year ago. After spending much of his adult life in the corporate world, he is grateful for the opportunity to now use his experience and gifts in a way that directly serves the Lord and His church. For Jamie, that transition has brought a renewed sense of purpose and joy, and he considers serving alongside the FBC family a life-changing blessing. Jamie and his wife, Lana, have two sons, Drake and Hayden, a daughter-in-law, Kaylee, and a grandson, Drayton. His family is one of God’s greatest gifts in his life and continually inspires him to be a better man. Outside of work and ministry, Jamie enjoys hunting, fishing, and golf. His favorite passage is Isaiah 41:10, a powerful reminder to trust God’s presence, strength, and help in every season.

Bucky has served on staff at First Baptist for three and a half years, and during one of the most difficult seasons of his life, serving here has helped keep him grounded in Christ and surrounded by a church family. As a father raising two children, Bucky has seen firsthand that God still works, answers prayer, and faithfully provides. He is especially thankful for the ways the Lord continues to guide, protect, and shape his children as they walk through life together. Bucky has a wide range of interests, including scuba diving, martial arts, leather crafting, and even gold prospecting! His favorite passages are Psalm 118:24 and Philippians 4:7—reminders to rejoice in each day the Lord gives and to rest in the peace of God through every circumstance.

Anjie has served on staff at First Baptist for 12 years, and during that time the church has become much more than the place where she works—it has truly become family. Through the friendships and encouragement she has found here, especially within her small group, Anjie has experienced the blessing of Christian community and has continued to grow in her walk with Christ. She is grateful for her brother, nieces, and nephews, as well as the church family God has placed around her to share life and faith together. In her free time, Anjie enjoys reading and working jigsaw puzzles. Her favorite verse is John 14:27, where Jesus reminds us that the peace He gives is unlike anything the world can offer.
